  • recreational drugs: A drug used nonmedically for personal enjoyment (including caffeine, nicotine, ecstasy, marijuana)
  • bi-partisan: of or involving the agreement or cooperation of two political parties that usually oppose each other's policies: the reforms received considerable bipartisan approval.
  • unseemly: (of behaviour or actions) not proper or appropriate: an unseemly squabble.
  • to vie / vying: compete eagerly with someone in order to do or achieve something: the athletes were vying for a place in the British team.
  • backdown: an act of backing down.
  • equity: the quality of being fair and impartial: equity of treatment.
  • iniquitous: grossly unfair and morally wrong: an iniquitous tax. these awards remain an iniquitous system.
  • edifying: providing moral or intellectual instruction: edifying literature.
