Teaser Tuesday (5th of March, 2013)

With a new month, a new theme. This month, the theme is ECOREAD. Now, there's many ways we could kick off an environmental/ecological theme like that. Books that speak to the beauty of nature?  Or revel in nature, 'red in tooth and claw'? No, it's my nature to scare you. Let's kick it off with the darker note...

"Pollution is now so pervasive that it's become a marinade in which we all bathe every day … And in many cases, once in, it's impossible to get out."
Slow Death by Rubber Duck by Rick Smith & Bruce Lourie

About the book:

Slow Death by Rubber Duck exposes the extent to which we are being poisoned every day of our lives, both in our homes and our workplaces. It tells the shocking story of corporate giants who manufacture these toxins, the government officials who let it happen and the effects on people across the globe.  — From the publisher.

About the author:

As Executive Director of Environmental Defence, Rick Smith is one of Canada’s leading environmentalists. He holds a doctorate in biology from the University of Guelph.. — From the publisher.

Bruce Lourie, an influential environmental thinker, started one of Canada’s largest environmental consultancies. He works closely with governments, businesses, foundations and nonprofit organizations. He is also President of the Ivey Foundation. — From the publisher.
